Mark Jenkinson has topped the Yorkshire and Humber results tables for 2019 with sales of more than £32million – in the same week its second auction of 2020 saw lots selling for a total of £3.85 million.

Mark Jenkinson recorded the best results in Yorkshire and the Humber for 2019, in a report published by Essential Information (EI) Group.

Following January's £2m auction, our second auction of 2020 saw 28 of 30 lots sell for £3.96 million, a 93 per cent success rate.

Several 'properties with potential' were sold including a detached bungalow on Hathersage Road in a 0.44-acre plot in Dore, Sheffield with structural issues and a guide price of £350,000 which went for £445,000.

Also going under the hammer at the auction, held at The Platinum Suite, Sheffield United Football Club, was a fire-damaged inner terrace house in need of complete modernisation on Springvale Road in Crookes which sold for £152,000 against a guide of £95,000 plus.

A period detached house on Doncaster Road in Rotherham attracted strong bidding before selling at £330,000.

Lots were also sold on behalf of five different Local Authorities, including an industrial plot with ground rent of £17,643 – a yield of 5.2 per cent – offered on behalf of Hull City Council selling for £339,000.

A former Community Centre in Barton-Upon-Humber in 0.54 acre with potential for residential development, was offered on behalf of North Lincolnshire Council, and sold for £311,000 – more than double the guide price.

Adrian Little, Head of the Auction Department, said: "This auction was extremely busy and saw some outstanding individual results.

"Our two sales so far this year reflect a confident market and a shortage of 'properties with potential' to meet the ever-increasing demand from builders, developers and investors, large and small.

"It is encouraging to see strong demand for land, particularly sites being offered without planning, where buyers can start from scratch and work up suitable residential schemes."

Our next auction will be held on at 2pm prompt at Sheffield United on Tuesday 7 April.

Over the last 40 years Adrian has been involved in the sale by auction of over 10,000 properties in the Yorkshire and Humber region, ranging from small sites and ground rents to large industrial estates and residential investments. He has been most fortunate to have sold many landmark buildings throughout the region and is particularly interested in properties that require modernisation, restoration or redevelopment.

Having spent many hours on the rostrum at Bramall Lane, he saw the incredibly successful transition to online auctions seeing some £100m of residential, commercial, agricultural and industrial lots being sold for private, corporate and local authority clients. In March 2023, he joined Eddisons and Pugh & Co to forward this success and continue to offer personal service with a larger national presence .
